Tully Cross and Renvyle

By Seanmcfoto. Posted in Landscape | No Comments »

One of my favourite places beyond Connemara is the north Galway coastline. The trip from Leenane, along Killary Fjord, turning right past Lough Fee, then on past Glassilaun’s curved beach, on to Tully Cross and then Renvyle beach. It’s a beautiful stretch of coastline, and I really don’t get there often enough. After the past 2 weeks house bound, I’m itching to get out of the house. Here’s a few shots from that north Galway coastline.

I’m visiting the doctor tomorrow, and despite some swelling, I’m hoping to get the all clear to go shooting wildlife in the Saltees next week, my first outing in a while. The island is full of Puffins, Gannets, Guillemots and Razorbills. A few years ago I created my first ever self published book after a trip there. You can preview it on lulu.com: http://www.lulu.com/seanmccormack. The page says I have other books planned, and indeed I do!

Scotland

By Seanmcfoto. Posted in Landscape, timelapse | 5 Comments »

It’s been hard to get back to blogging after my trip to Scotland. It’s just been mad here, especially as I go through all the images, making selects, keywording. It also leads to me to considering my options on stock sales.

The photo above is from Sanna Bay. I found the layout of the beaches too busy to find a composition in, despite seeing Joe Cornish images from there. I opted for details instead. This was shot with both a 4 stop ND filter and a 3 Stop ND Grad, both by Hitech (Formatt is the parent company for these)

I also shot a few timelapse sets on the trip, here’s one from Glen Etive.

The winners of this months SWPP competition have been announced. I got Gold with the image above in the Monochrome section. Actually I regularly get gold in Monochrome, but that still doesn’t make me any less delighted to have received it.
I’ve talked before about the significance of Gold before. In and of itself it’s only recognition, but it does put you forward for the end of year awards, which is great.

Rocks at Liscannor

By Seanmcfoto. Posted in Landscape, Photo | 1 Comment »

I was out yesterday running around Co. Clare with pauld70. It was my turn to do the driving and I’m sure Paul observed how impatient I am with slow drivers. And being Sunday, the ‘Sunday Drivers’ were out in force yesterday. So after driving behind a whole series of 60kmph drivers, we eventually arrived at Liscanoor. The tide was on the way in so we couldn’t get across to the beautiful flat rocks that have appeared in previous Liscannor shots. We did gets some shots down by the pier with the tide coming in over the rocks. I did use a polariser to slow down the shot, but I think I really need one of those 10 stop ND filters!
