It’s okay, I’m alive. I just currently swamped with Glor Tire work. I’m double jobbing on this doing both sound mixing for the house (There’s a split going to the Outside Broadcast truck for the TV sound) and doing the promo shots for the 3rd season running. Anyhow, I’m planing on adding more tutorials to this blog, and including audio and video related stuff as well in the coming while as my planned 5DII video projects actually happen.
One bit of fun we had in Scotland was an outdoor headshot with model Ross. Except that it was pitch black at 10pm in the middle of the West Highlands.
Here we are in the picnic area of The Clachaig Inn, with a mountain for a background. Of course I’ve only one speedlight, in this case a Canon 580exII. In hindsight, I could’ve brought 2 more and used my tripod and a clamp. But as all my electronics were carry on, I didn’t want to risk being overweight and having to put it in the hold. So that gave me one light. Not enough really. Fortunately Matt, one of the other photographers there had a reflector, so we could fill in the far side of the face.

Below we have the group shot version. You can see Matt holding the reflector, with Paul holding the stand and umbrella. Looking on is Richard and Mark. The speedlight has been modified with a shoot through umbrella. The flash itself was at 1/4 power, and was triggered with a set of Elinchrom Skyports. You can see the picnic bench on the right, with my bag and bits.

It’s been hard to get back to blogging after my trip to Scotland. It’s just been mad here, especially as I go through all the images, making selects, keywording. It also leads to me to considering my options on stock sales.
The photo above is from Sanna Bay. I found the layout of the beaches too busy to find a composition in, despite seeing Joe Cornish images from there. I opted for details instead. This was shot with both a 4 stop ND filter and a 3 Stop ND Grad, both by Hitech (Formatt is the parent company for these)
I also shot a few timelapse sets on the trip, here’s one from Glen Etive.
I’m off to Scotland for most of this week, to shoot landscapes and a few other bits. Looking forward to that!
My book Photoshop Lightroom 2 Made Easy is now available from Amazon.
Also I’ve posted the LRB Portfolio 2.11 update to E-Junkie.
Lord Bishop did rock last night in the Roisin Dubh. Starting with a miniscule audience, the crowd soon piled in to dance, drink and party.
Mixing a healthy does of sex and politics, songs like ‘Let’s get naked on the ground’ and ‘Senator Groove’ had the crowd going. As well as spreading the love, there was a healthy dose of Jack Daniels being shared with the audience. Towards the end of the gig, Lord Bishop knocked back the last drop, apparently ending the love fuel frenzy. There was no need to fear though, a second bottle instantly appeared and further fueled the funky grooves.
And so ends my music writing career.

I had a wonderful chat with visual artist Aideen Barry today. Her site is http://aideenbarry.com. Be warned it’s a large flash site.
We spoke at length about arts, photography, art spaces and loads of other stuff.
All good especially as my good lady, lad and I had visited her exhibition this afternoon before it closed.
Here’s one of the visual exhibits, showing Aideen in timelapse doing house work while floating in the air (it’s what my missus is looking at in the oblique pyramid!)
