I’ve been a bit bold on the blogging front recently despite shooting loads of gigs. Anyhow here’s a cute shot of Imelda May looking at me..
As always the show was great. I’ll probably add a few more to this post when I get through the files!
As promised:
Sharon Shannon got up for 2 songs..
As a lover and user of the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra system, I’m delighted to see there’s now a group on Flickr dedicated to them. There was 7 members after I joined last night, but now there’s 17, so a good start!

I was out at Tyrone house twice in the last few days. Beautiful for a ruin. The IRA destroyed it during The War of Independence, thinking the Black and Tans might use it as a base.
As a person who generally likes to use flash, it’s nice to get in a little something with available light (rather than the light you brought!). Here’s a quick headshot done with natural light and a small reflector. Shot at Claregalway Abbey.
I’ll be giving a presentation of my photos at Galway Camera Club tomorrow night. I’m the 2nd photographer on so I expect to start around 9pm if anyone wants to drop by The White Room in Cluain Mhuire on Wellpark Road.
I had a good night last night showing off my work to Celbridge Camera Club. I showed a mix of landscape, band and people work, including a quick talk on specific images, from previsualisation to completion. The audience reaction was good and it was nice to see how other camera clubs operate.
Good to meet you guys! Hopefully I’ll be back again!
Just got the Canon 7D. Battery in charger!
I’m giving a presentation to Celbridge Camera Club tomorrow, so I’m prepping images and thoughts. As part of this I figure I’ll show some of my band images. Except when I go to my music Catalog, I realise that the files are showing as missing. They’re not, but got moved when I moved the main catalog over. As it seemed pointless relinking 99 randomly located files, I set about the task of relinking the whole section of the catalog that was moved. 13,000 images later and the 99 from the portfolio are no longer missing. And of course my Catalog is complete. Sometimes you just have to knuckle into it.
A cracking night with Messiah J & The Expert at Roisin Dubh tonight. Nice crowd, well into the gig and the lads having a ball despite the initial lack of Kinder eggs.
After a shabby faring in the other categories, I was delighted to win first place in the Colour Print competition in the Camera Club for a print of a sunset over the Black Mounts taken from the river in Rannoch Moor.
